About 300 members marched from the old Mount Zion at 614 West River Road N to the new, next-door building on Easter. The 350-seat sanctuary marks a $2 million expansion as the church grows after nearly 50 years at the prior site. Longtime members spoke of renewal and faith as the church moves forward.

Suspected pipe bomb found at Tiffin University site

Landscapers unearthed a device resembling a one foot long copper pipe at Tiffin University's Elyria Academic Center near Lorain County Community College. Police and fire crews alerted the bomb squad, which secured and destroyed the device by counter charge. no injuries reported.

Good Samaritan helps stop jumper on Fourth Street bridge

A 21-year-old Elyria man aided police as a 30-year-old woman attempted to jump from the Fourth Street bridge about 2:44 a.m. Officers and bystanders, including Paul Pay, pulled her to safety as she began to fall, then took her into custody.
