High winds cause power outages and road closures in Lorain County

High winds across Lorain County knocked down power lines and damaged traffic lights causing road closures in Elyria North Ridgeville and Sheffield. About 70 homes lost power with gusts peaking near 55 mph. First Energy reported outages and authorities warned of live wires prompting brief street closures.

North Ridgeville stop yields half pound cocaine

North Ridgeville police stopped a Fairview Park man on I 480 near the Ohio Turnpike at about 10 43 p m Friday and found heroin and nearly half a pound of cocaine. He was jailed on cocaine and heroin trafficking charges, posted 35 000 bond, and was released.
