Three Mile Island crisis relief as evacuees return
Tens of thousands of central Pennsylvanians fled the Three Mile Island area and began returning home after officials said the threat of a catastrophic hydrogen explosion was over. Civil defense said at least 68 000 returned while about 80 000 evacuated in York County and 20 000 within a 20 mile radius remained in early stages of a cautious shutdown. Governor Thornburgh welcomed the relief and cautioned that precautionary evacuations may end.

Beef prices to rise about 20 percent this year
Washington AP A Department of Agriculture estimate projects beef prices will climb about 20 percent in 1979 and peak this summer. The all-cut beef price may reach roughly 2.18 dollars per pound by year end, up from 1.82 a pound last year, with February prices at 2.14 and 32.3 percent higher than 1978.
