Prices rise 1 percent in March inflation surge

WASHINGTON UPI wholesale prices climbed 1 percent in March led by food and fuel, finishing the first quarter of 1979 at the highest level in over four years. United strike halts all flights through April 16

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers began a strike March 31 causing all United Airlines flights to be cancelled until April 16. Travel agencies report rescheduling hundreds of Cleveland area travelers with United bookings and warn that Supersaver tickets may be forfeited if not purchased.
