Oberlin water sale bid opposed by city manager
Oberlin City Manager Thomas Dalton said he opposes a Fredrickstown firm request to sell Oberlin water to test newly laid lines. The Rural Lorain County Water Authority plans to use about 275 000 gallons to fill and test 150 to 175 miles of lines around Oberlin, with John Hislip presenting to council. Dalton cites a council resolution prohibiting sales outside city limits, preferring annexation for extension.

Amherst man sentenced to two to ten years
One person jailed and two fined after guilty pleas before Lorain County Common Pleas Judge Paul J. Mikus. David G. Bortner, 19, Amherst, received two to ten years for two indictments of breaking and entering. German Flores, 26, Lorain, fined 500 dollars and placed on probation for narcotics sale and to enter the Lorain Methadone program. Leroy Brim Jr., 26, Cleveland, fined 250 dollars and placed on good behavior for one year for possession of criminal tools. Dandy Sweet, 34, Cleveland, got a suspended six months jail term and good behavior for attempting a crime. Rosemary Geres, 51, Lorain, referred for a pre-sentence report for forging a 91 dollar check. A campaign meeting malice suit seeks 80,000 dollars. former Sheffield Village mayor Lenin Pando sues Emma Anderson over a statement during a Nov 1 campaign. Pando lost the Nov 4 election to John Romoser 236 to 350.

Right to privacy bill advances from House subcommittee
The right to privacy bill HR 214 sponsored by Rep Charles A Mosher of Oberlin won unanimous approval from the House Subcommittee on Courts Civil Liberties and the Administration of Justice.
