Eaton firefighters honor former chief and eight others
Eaton Township Fire and Rescue Service honored eight of its own at a recognition dinner at Melody Grove on Sugar Ridge Road. Ceremonies honored former chief Melvin Tornes for 34 years, charter member Robert Jaeger as master of ceremonies, and other service milestones from 11 to 41 years plus chaplaincy and fire department support roles. Also noted were the Fire Belles with 51 years of service and Dorothy Jaeger as the last charter member. Additional deeds included certificates of merit for community contributions and plans for a gospel sing, blood pressure checks, a brick sale, newspaper collection, sunrise service, Palm Sunday service, homecoming booth applications, and hydrant testing reminders.
