Bill would ease rail traffic on Ohio lakefront line

U S House passed a 1998 transportation bill provision to fund overpasses and rail upgrades totaling 24 million dollars. The aim is to divert Norfolk Southern trains from the lakefront track through Lakewood Avon Lake and nearby communities by funding overpasses in Berea Olmsted Falls and Olmsted Township and upgrades along a corridor to Vermilion. Several mayors gathered as trains rumbled past Nicholson Avenue to highlight the measure now awaiting Senate approval.

Rock Hall opens louder wing with Hall of Fame stars

At Cleveland a new wing of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum opened to rave reviews from Rock Hall members. Juror excused for wink and remarks in abduction case

A Lorain juror who winked laughed and spoke during the trial of Demitrus Loren Thompson 28 was excused by Common Pleas Judge Kosma Glavas. Thompson denied four years for a November 21 1997 abduction of his former girlfriend. the judge withheld the juror’s identity.
