Amherst school levy options to fund programs

Amherst residents face tough financial choices as the district mails four tax options to maintain or expand programs. A 5.9 mill operating levy would keep current offerings, while 6.9 and 7.5 mill plans would add programs and staff, including all day kindergarten and two more teachers per grade. A 8.9 mill levy would cover staff growth and kindergarten. If defeated, about $1.5 million in cuts are planned.
