Investigators in Lorain County seize records from a local bank linked to a drug trafficking ring active across Lorain, Cuyahoga and Columbiana counties since the early 1980s. Mortgages on dealer properties were used to launder profits. one home in North Ridgeville housed dealers from 1987 to 1990. Federal grand jury presentation is planned within two weeks, with delays due to an attorney illness and an additional suspect’s capture by the FBI last week. Raids March 1 targeted six houses in Cleveland, Rocky River, Olmsted Township and Lisbon, Columbiana County.

The Rural Lorain County Water Authority outlines a proposed 12 million dollar water line from the Avon Lake pumping station on Miller Road to eastern county areas with rising population. General Manager Elden Anderson says construction would begin in 2 to 4 years and serve as a backup if another pipe break occurs. He called the cost a very rough estimate and indicated it wouldn’t be less than this amount.
Ex Cleveland Browns Ricky Bolden and George Lilja spoke to a roomful of Lorain County youths facing alcohol or drug problems. Bolden, a former ten child raised in Dallas, retired in 1989 to enter ministry, warned that drug use destroys focus and direction.
