Man claims W. C. Fields son seeks estate share

William Rexford Fields Morris, claiming to be the comedian W. C. Fields’s son, arrives in Los Angeles to meet lawyers before a Monday court hearing over a share of an estate valued at about 771,428 dollars. He says Fields paid his mother 13 000 dollars for an affidavit denying paternity and monthly support until her death in 1928. Morris, 31, was told to return east after a 1937 attempt to meet Fields, and says Fields offered 100 dollars for college in Texas.
