The Pacific Air Command will hand over air defense duties to naval and Marine aviation next month as the central Pacific relies on a reduced air force. Medical Tests For Preschool Tots Scheduled
Free preschool physical examination for Canton children entering first grade next fall will be conducted this month for the first time in the city's history. Superintendent Harold S. Vincent said the exams aim to detect defects early so they can be corrected by private physicians during the summer without interrupting schooling. First Vacation Furlough Ends in Auto Collision with Locomotive
A 66 year old Boston woman, Mrs Adolph Jacobson, was injured when her 1947 convertible struck a New York Central locomotive at Route 30 crossing near Minerva. She suffered a fractured ankle and head injuries and is in Mercy Hospital in fair condition. Her son William J Jacobson, 33, stationed at Camp Holabird, was treated for facial and knee injuries. The driver, Maxin Unsworth, said he was en route to Chicago with his mother when the crash occurred. Witnesses say the crossing flasher lights were active.
