Two rural area children died Friday afternoon in separate accidents. William Donald Moore, 16 months, died from strangulation after entangling in a backyard rope swing at Route 153 near Freeburg. Wilma Louise Starker, 20 months, died when a car backed out of a Summit County garage, rolling over her on Mt Pleasant Road. Coroner E C Reno ruled accidental deaths. Funeral services set for both children with details at Cassaday Turkle and Swigart parlors.

A coalition of Republicans and southern Democrats held the current leverage, with the admin hoping to wedge them apart by Tuesday when debate resumes.
