William S Turck Pioneer Banker Dies in Alma
William S Turck, longtime Gratiot County figure, died last Thursday at the Woodworth avenue home after a lifetime as a pioneer lumberman farmer banker and statesman. A Civil War veteran he served in the 20th Michigan and fought at Spotsylvania. He helped build Alma’s banking houses and later First State Bank where he was a director and stockholder. He spent winters in Florida for health and remained active in business until late life.
