Presbyterian church schedules a men only prayer meeting and sermon series in a Sunday program. The Free Methodist Church holds quarterly services starting Friday September 22 led by Rev. J. A. Hudnut with gospel messages and invitations to all.

Teachers must report nonattendance to the county school commissioner. Deputized truancy officers will ensure regular attendance. parents face fines or imprisonment for repeated noncompliance.

Saginaw violin teacher Orlando Heer Wagen will visit Alma on Tuesday next, September 2, to play at chapel exercises starting 8:45 a.m. and to meet patrons afterward for lessons. Letters from F Bruske and W J Gatausen commend his character and musicianship, noting studies in New York and professional teaching and orchestral work. The public is invited to hear him in chapel and meet him afterward.
An all camps gathering of Modern Woodman Camps in Gratiot County will meet in Alma on Tuesday evening September 26. Alma Camp No 2 will host with Liz entertaining. Mt Pleasant Clare and Shepherd Camps are invited. Officers attend. 200 to 400 visitors expected. Program includes reception at 6 00, grand torch light parade at 7 00, camp opening and instruction, banquet and speeches. Several new members anticipated for Alma Camp. visiting camps may recruit new candidates. A Isham of Newark and S en Isham of Arcadia left Friday for western states.
Local performers Batevtar in Shtebe and Ithaca attract attention with a string of recitals over the week. Miss Sniljo Meksingen and Mr. Mayr ard Ballmer headline engagements, praised for their artistry and supported by patrons.
Wesley Bamborough lived 36 years in Grat iot and died at his farm near Riverside cemetery. He was born in Leons New York and moved to Alma then Sumner. He married Elvinia S Barber in May 1914 and had three children, two daughters and one son, with one daughter dying young. Survived by his wife Libbie Parsons and Herbert Bamborough, two grandchildren Channing Parsons. A Democrat, he was described as genial with many friends. Funeral held at his late home conducted by Rev EB Hong. Burial Riverside cemetery.
The Post Master at Brows announces a sweeping postal order that condemns nearly all old rural route boxes not weatherproof or properly maintained. Carriers will deliver to new address numbers on boxes along routes, with completion due by September. Patrons must replace unsafe boxes within sixty days, angering some rental box owners.
The Record plans an October souvenir edition to showcase Alma's manufacturing and business life. It will feature over fifty halftones of industry and civic buildings, with residences, aiming for reliability and a broad circulation at cost.
