Willis Lodge No 1754 forms for Modern Brotherhood in Alma

The Modern Brotherhood of America held its second Alma meeting at the W R O on Friday evening with key officers installed. President A E Cary vice president Henry Adams secretary John F Knoertzer treasurer Ray Broadhead chaplain Zada Fiske conductor Day Alverson. Next meeting on the 15th at 7 30 pm will elect remaining officers. The local group honors Willis D Fuller as district deputy and doubled its membership last year with strong prospects.

Without a License Clow Convicted in Alan Case

Frank B. Clow was fined twenty five dollars or thirty days in jail after being convicted by Justice Chadwick for peddling in Alan without the required license. He admitted soliciting orders and selling goods, and posted bail to appeal at the next term to challenge the ordinance.

Mrs. A. B. Darragh Dies After Prolonged Illness in St Louis

Mrs. A B Darragh wife of Congressman Darragh died at her St Louis home last Friday after a lingering paralysis illness at age 37 The funeral was held Tuesday at two from the home Rev Carl Zeigler officiated and interment followed at St Louis cemetery She was born May 14 1808 in Alle City Pennsylvania and married Mr Darragh January 5 1874 Survivors include Albert and Emily Culbertson her parents and a large local network The obituary notes many out of town attendees including Mr and Mrs Frank Seymour from Chicago and Hon T A Ely with others A separate item reports Game Warden Baslick charging Bert and Arthur Kirby of Ashley for dynamiting fish in Maple River with bonds set at 200 for arraignment September 21.

The Arcada Farmer's Club gathered at Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Nestle's home for August. Loss totals reveal heavy lightning losses for Clinton Gratiot counties

Board report shows past year losses about 20 200 with lightning accounting for 11 800 in Gratiot and 7 700 in Clinton. Heavy storms in October pushed Gratiot losses to 12 700 while Clinton suffered about 1 400. Total assessments set at 2 75 per thema and 5 per cent on all paid in October.

Rally Day At Presbyterian Church Sunday September 17

The Presbyterian Church marks Rally Day with a full schedule. Boy Hurt In Road accident Near Emerson

Ten year old Loulie Aumangher, son of Mr and Mrs William Aumangher of Emerson, was run over by a buggy last Saturday night. His leg near the ankle was broken and he suffered other bruises. He had just recovered from typhoid fever and was weak, making his injuries more serious. Doctor Monfort attended and set the fracture.
