A scanned list shows nearly seventy five individuals did not seek exemption from the county draft board. The document names numerous residents, many with Woodworth and Alma addresses, detailing exemption claims and discharges for physical disability, forming a large roster of men eligible or deferred from service.
Walter Caple has sold his Vernon township farm near Clare and plans to return to the city to resume business. The deal transfers 20 acres along the road with the farm buildings, while 100 acres remain southwest of the road near the railroad. He will supervise the new property and continue breeding thoroughbred cattle, aiming to use the site as a distributing point for high grade stock. Caple has long specialized in Jersey cattle near Owosso, with a noted successful venture there.
The Alma minister J. S. Raum spoke Sunday night at the Christian church on Sampson and the Lion. He urged vigilance against indulgence gambling intemperance and doubt and called for public action to shield youths and uphold moral standards in Alma. He warned against fashionable dress and warned dads to guide their families while challenging city leaders to ensure safer streets for women. A pony owned by Wi Creech of Forest Hill was reportedly stolen Tuesday night by F. E. Pollasky. Local officers received word early Wednesday and noted the pony had not yet been recovered. The item reflects a brief rural crime notice from Idlehour referencing the periodical Promotion.

Public Library doors open Monday at three in Alma, after maintenance work. Civic Improvement League funded a librarian to oversee the space with Marion Spinkey in charge Monday afternoon and Mary Willett on duty in the evening. The collection features 100 volumes for youth and additional adult reading, with forty tables for in-room reading as Alma grows industrially. Theodore Roosevelt cited a trio of priorities: home life, church, and public library, urging Alma toward a great local library.
Edna Campbell and Major Williams were married last night at the Campbell home on Woodworth avenue with about fifty guests present. Rev. William H. Mason officiated at seven o clock. The couple plans to move to Hot Springs Arkansas where Major Williams is stationed. Edna, a 1914 Alma High School graduate, later earned a teaching degree from Alma College and has served as secretary to Dr. T. J. Carney. The new Mrs. Williams is highly regarded locally and the Alma Record offers congratulations and best wishes.
