Soldiers drive Liberty trucks to the coast

On Tuesday night and Wednesday morning the Pere Marquette rail line brought many soldiers to this city. They will drive Liberty trucks overland to the coast, with over five hundred soldiers total this week. The first group left Wednesday afternoon toward Saginaw, and more are expected to depart today and Friday.

Several Deaths During The Week In Gratiot County

Over the past week Gratiot County recorded multiple deaths including Phoebe Jeanette Sullivan who died at home on South State Street after an illness. Mrs James G. Kress of Alma who died in Texas. Mrs George H. Smith who died at St Marys Hospital in Detroit. Ralston Fleming of this city who died after pneumonia. and Willan H. Mason of Saginaw who led the university unit's news coverage.

City Pumping Station Construction Advances and Water Purification Plan

Preliminary work for a city pumping station began yesterday near East Superior Street.
