Fire Damages Model Bakery as Fire Department Saves Block

A Wednesday blaze caused considerable damage at the Model Bakery on East Superweather Street. The fire started in a suite occupied by Mr and Mrs McKee, owners, with rapid hose lines confining the flames to the second floor and preventing spread to wooden adjacent buildings. Most household goods were destroyed while only minor first floor damage occurred from water.

Fifty seven more men are called for entrainment

The draft guard called fifty seven men to report Friday morning November 15 for entrainment. They will be sent to Canig Wasteworth Spartenburg DC for training. The draft board warns all men to answer all questions on questionnaires and notes the dates and attorneys in charge at city hall.

Ford has been redelayed by a friend of Thorihe Stitt in France to say he is recovering from shell shock in a military hospital. Stitt and Private Carl Titus left their unit in duty and, less than five months after joining the service, they were at the front.
