Extension granted to November first for prepaid subs

The Government grants an extension to November first for all subscriptions paid in advance before newspaper discontinuation. Readers with a blue cross in the square at the head of this article have or will have expired subscriptions by then. A few remain unpaid and the paper urges immediate payment to avoid losing any subscriber and to avoid discontinuation. Remember the date November first.

War Loan Exhibit Draws 10000 as Slackers Roar in Alma

The Fourth Liberty Loan train toured the Seventh Federal Reserve District attracting about 10,000 people in Alma. Hon. Dixon Williams of Chicago led the program with a hard hitting Liberty Loan address. Guests included two wounded American soldiers and two French soldiers, among them Corporal Jacques Gourney, a Lafayette descendant decorated for bravery.

Quarantined College Students at Alma College

Union and Bell Telephone Firms Merge and Reallocate Exchanges

The Michigan State Telephone Co and Union Telephone Co win a state order allowing a blended contract. Bell interests receive 525,837 for their business and exchanges in Union territory, with tolls routed via the other company’s lines where appropriate. No rate changes now. possible future rate equalization appeals. Exchanges shift: MS Telephone takes Farwell, Clare, Coleman, Midland, Byron, Fenton. Union gains Owosso, Corunna, Mt. Alma High Falls 42 To Ithaca In Strong Rush Show

Alma High School football, weakened by Captain Allen’s departure, lost 42 to Ithaca Friday. Alma’s line yielded to Ithaca’s smash power while receivers Murphy and Pembroke gained air yards from Dunham passes. Twice Alma threatened via the air but faltered.
