Crandell and Scott display a vast array of new home furniture on Superior street. The two stores feature dressers sideboards tables chairs couches rugs and carpets from top national factories. The showroom includes a leather and cloth lounge balcony and a carpet division with rich browns and greens. The partners acquired the business in 1908 and report at least a thirty percent sales increase amid courteous service and businesslike methods.

Squirrels Fast Hit Amid Crop Shortages This Fall

Farmers warn this fall will see scarce crops with no walnuts, no bittermits, and no hickory units. Walnut prices rise as European and California crops shrink due to cholera scares. Walnuts seen at 25 cents per pound, almonds and pecans 20 to 23 cents. The festive squirrel appears ready for a larger harvest, with wholesale prices adding a nickel more per unit.

Surprise party at Riverdale ends with chicken heist

Fred J H Rowland, former Bank of Riverdale cashier, was surprised September 30 at the Odd Fellows hall. Friends lured him, then pilfered his chicken coop, stealing several fowls. The meat was cooked and served, leaving Rowland amused yet duped by the prank.

Local football clash yields sensational touchdowns by Hill

In a hard fought game Mina-Maine 4 ft tall Alma area star Hill scored multiple touchdowns including a 25 yard dash and a third quarter 15 yard run. Till opened the scoring with a swift 25 yard dash breaking Keigen’s end. The crowd roared as Hill added the lone successful extra point.
