Alma State Savings Bank Opens and the Moore Years Begin

In early 1901 Willian Babtke organized the Alma State Savings Bank which opened July 1 in the Bahlke block later part of Alma Realty. The stock was $23,000 with W A Balhke as president. George W. Moore became cashier after nearly ten years at the Commercial Savings Bank of St Louis and will train successor Rowland. Moore, born 1873 in Lenawee County, grew up near St Louis and graduated in 1892, then worked in mercantile business before joining the Alma bank project.

Williams Named Cashier At Riverdale Bank

A. J. Williams, experienced banker and former school administrator, is elected cashier of Riverdale's Bank of Riverdale established 1905. Born in York PA, he has held posts in Michigan and South Dakota, returning to Gratiot County nine years ago. He takes over October 1 and is expected to sustain the bank’s growth in the farming center.
