Michigan educational scoring test shift for butter and cheese

The November test for butter and cheese will move from Detroit to Grand Rapids due to crowded cold storage. Samples must be labeled by hand separator or whole milk creameries to separate classes in scoring. Past contest saw 101 butter and 36 cheese samples with butter averaging 98.7 and top score 97.5 by Buchanan Creamery Co. Central Michigan Produce Co. scored 14 points.

Alma Falls 12 to 1 in Intercollegiate Clash at Kalamazoo

Alma University suffered a 12 to 1 defeat to Kalamazoo in a rough intercollegiate game at Kalamazoo last Friday. Alma led 11 to 0 at halftime but failed on a goal kick, letting Kalamazoo surge in the second half with two touchdowns and a successful extra point. Key players included Schultz Helmer and Kimmerlee for Kalamazoo, while Alma showed early progress with drives to Kalamazoo’s one yard line before the half ended.

Hospital Notes From Tesco County Patients

Wm Marvin of Tesco county was at the hospital for an operation but returned home as it was not needed. Miss Reed remains at Reed City nursing. Mrs Brainard has been ill for several days. Nursing classes have been disrupted for a month due to hospital and outside work, but work will resume soon.

Attendence at Traverse City Sunday School Convention Breaks Records

At Traverse City an overflow crowd attended the State Sunday Association School Convention last week with enthusiastic singing and patriotic songs. J. W. Milliken of Werne City was elected president and D. B. Allen of Was chosen secretary. Allen spoke en route to Alma about the M. E. school. Delegates Mrs. F. L. Teachers Attend Tid Semi Annual Gratiot County Meeting

Over two hundred teachers gathered in Ithaca for the Tid semi annual meeting of the Gratiot County Teachers Association. They heard papers on Manual Training and the Compulsory Attendance Law, plus talks on school evidence, rural school advantages, and the role of teachers as moral factors. Supt. Fire at Alma saloon and stores causes $5000 loss

Fire dawns Sunday in a building housing Frank Davis saloon, spreading to Miss Brown's millinery and Clinton Boyles' barber shop. Losses total about 5000 with Miss Brown's stock largely ruined after fire insurance lapsed. Boyles insured for 100, water damage to Parker stock 200. Barber shop saved. plans to rebuild brick blocks in spring.
