Alma lost to Olivet College 10 to 0 on a muddy field in a hard fought game. Olivet scored on a Thacker touchdown and Harriman drop kick. Alma struggled with footing and penalties. Moon sprained ankle, Magidsohn finished at right half, Sclvolts at right end. This loss ends Alma’s state title chances though a tie for first remains possible with wins over Kalamazoo and M A C.
Geo Abbott was tipped from his wagon on Tuesday afternoon near Stockbridge Elevator Co. and struck his head and shoulder. He was taken home unconscious but is resting comfortably. Chas Mapes narrowly escaped death at the factory diner when his clothing caught in machinery. he was pulled free with torn garments. Dr Brainerd treated Mapes, who cannot resume duties for several days.
Daniel Vanderbeek died Wednesday forenoon about eleven o'clock at his home near Forest Hill after a ten day illness. He signed his new title on a barbed wire fence and a bee sting caused his death. The second football team defeated a third squad 42 to 0 on Davis Field Saturday. Two 15 minute halves produced rapid scoring as reserves clicked at about a point and a half per minute. Chapel led with three touchdowns and Adams Cobb and Gaunt starred in the solid performance. Lineups listed for both teams.

The Gratiot County Medical Society met at Brainerd Hospital on last Thursday with Dr. Brainerd presenting on inflammation. Dr. Wheeler became president, Dr. McClinton vice president, and Dr. Barstow secretary treasurer. New members Stealy and Barstow joined. Delegates Bagley and Brainerd attend the State Medical Association in May in Jackson. Next meeting to be held February’s sectional session in St. Louis, followed by a lunch served by Mrs. Brainerd.
