Armistice Day Celebration in Alma Features Parade and Lectures

Despite cold winds and snow flurries the Armistice Day program in Alma drew a smaller crowd yet left a lasting impression. The George W. Myers post led a parade with four Legion platoons, a tank float, auxiliaries, bands, and hundreds of schoolchildren, ending at Davia field for a patriotic address by Professor Roy Hamilton. A flag gift to the local post was presented, a memorial ceremony honored George W. Myers, and a noon banquet hosted over two hundred Legionnaires preceded a 3 pm football game between the Legion team and Alma College. The day closed with a military ball, and a series of library lectures on American Colonial Art. Local women and Scouts prepared entertainment and a play is slated for Friday by Girl Scouts. A missing child from Cherry Street was reported found in Chicago.
