Mloan Sloan, lifelong Gratiot County resident, died after a long illness. He was 78 and remembered for community service and a quiet, steady presence. Survived by a sister and several nieces. Services held at local church.
In Pine River township during the days of Bears and Indians, Aaron Sloan, early settler and father of William Sloan, died November 10 1910 at his Wright Avenue home. Funeral services were led by Rev. J Frank Jackson at St Johns church and interment followed at Riverside Cemetery with grandsons as pallbearers.
The Board of Education seeks voter approval on November 20 for district bonds totaling 65000 to build a new high school on the Ward site with capacity for 250 students. It outlines plans for courses, facilities, and a rise in non resident pupil revenue, and explains tax impact based on current district finances.
A brief storm in Owosso caused five minutes of tornado like wind late Saturday night. Two people were killed and 25 injured with over half a million dollars in property damage. Homes trees and a manufacturing plant were destroyed as debris filled the air and chimneys and windows shattered. The fatal victims were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Corwin at the corner of Fletcher and Cedar streets.

Otis Scott reports the death of his mother Mrs Anna Scott aged 74 from heart failure after an asthma attack. She was mother to Fred G. Scott Wm H Scott and Otis Scott, previously living in this city near the Masonic Home on State street. Remains were sent to Detroit Novrath for burial in Woodmere Cemetery.
A. J. Butterfield of North Adams reports he has sold his business there and orders the Record to be sent to 810 Wachtel Avenue Petonkey Michigan. He plans to move west and relocate.
Alma residents report visiting Michigan figures and college events as Dr and Mrs. Fuerbringer of Saginaw die of pneumonia. Norvell Mills owner Win. Naldrett plans an electric plant to power mill and town commerce. Local church groups meet social and business events while football plans stir anticipation for Michigan against Pennsylvania in Ann Arbor.

Multiple farmers including Patrick Whitcraft Joseph Grata R. Moulton and Charles Coon announce forthcoming sales with stock implements and household goods.
The Masonic Home Board of control meets in Alma this afternoon and evening for its first gathering since the removal of all people from Grand Rapids. Attendees listed include Low Bo Winsor of Reed City and wife, Arthur Wolume of Owosso, James F. Dillon of East Tawas, James Thompson of Lansing, E. Wood Niles, Harrison of Saginaw, Mrs. Etheridge of Adrian, John Carts of Flint, William Wente of Manistee, Seely R. Burchard of Bay City. The board plans to discuss the appointment of a superintendent Montague during their Alma stay.
A short hotel job notice seeks a young or middle aged man with prior experience and asks applicants to inquire at Hotel Arcata. The rest reports personal notes including Mrs E A Bagley returning from Morrive Oklahoma to visit their son Susine, Judge J Bieber of Port Huron visiting the Moore home, and Eli Brown resuming duties at the post office after illness.
Ladies of Alina portray pedlar roles at the Experience Social held Friday at the Presbyterian church. The Presbyterian church ladies announce a bazaar featuring aprons dolls and fancy goods in the church parlors on Thursday and Friday November 23 24. Supper will be served in the dining room from five oclock until all served.
