Ransom Allen born April 16 1833 in New York died after a day of illness at his Emerson township farm near Ithaca Michigan Funeral services held Monday at the First Methodist Church with Masonic and bank officials among floral tributes. He and Louisa Coffin had five children Jotham Nora Eurotas Archie Arilla. He lived in Ithaca for years and helped transform Gratiot from woods to farmland.

Ithaca-born Hill City resident dies in logging train accident
Thomas Marr long associated with Ithaca and later Hill City Minnesota was killed when a logging train engine struck him as he stepped in front to retrieve logs. Funeral services were held in Ithaca with ministers Will Long and J. Q. Durfey officiating. Burial was in North Star Cemetery beside his wife. Marr, born in St Marys Ontario, had lived with his wife Minetta Hill since 1888 and had three children including Clifford and Vivian. one daughter died in infancy and Vivian died in 1908. He moved from Temple to Hill City later in life. The Marr family and relatives attended the funeral, with Mr and Mrs Ophir Haring of Three Rivers also present. Marr was remembered as a friend to many.
