Federation formed by Alma Bible class men in city effort
About forty citizens met at Alma High School on Wednesday night May 7 to organize the Federation of the men of the Bible class and churches. Ralph Von Thurn presided, the Glee Club sang, and Rev J Frank Jackson led a prayer as plans were set for a city uplift group with officers and affiliate members from each church.

The Grand Encampment and Cantonment I O O F was held in Sage Ivan May 19 20 and 41 with thousands in attendance. A Monday morning train through Alma carried over fifty uniformed men headed by Grand Rapids. Detroit's General Fred W. Davis arrived with staff. Patriarchs Militant met at Motel Portney banquet hall and degrees conferred at the Auditorium. Uniformed Cantonment paraded through the city with units from Detroit Jackson Grand Rapids Sag inaw Bay City Owosso Alma and more. Prizes were awarded for drill by cantons and officers. Alma and Ithaca Canton members listed. visiting Oddfellows wore wives pin badges reading Have good time today for tomorrow you may be married.

Alma College defeated Olivet 72 to 38 on Davis Field in a dual meet. Presbyterian sprinters and timers swept all first places on the track with Chisholm taking 15 points in sprints, Wilson and Cook winning distance events, Schultz sweeping hurdles, Rider in javelin and discus, and Alma winning the relay.
