Chicago reports a Utah triple murder in Prove county tied to George Wright alias James Wooks alias William Tyron. Detected by detectives after revivalist O Shea and a mulatto wife’s revelations, Wright was found in Ashton West Virginia and captured. He faces Utah authorities and forgery charges.
The village of Alma appoints a board of review to meet in the council rooms to examine the assessment roll prepared by village assessor V. M. Wisp on Thursday and Friday May 24 and 25.
A three year old, Ralph H Burris, son of Mr and Mrs H W Burris, accidentally drowned Tuesday forenoon when he fell head first into a shallow spring opposite the Burris home on the road toward St Louis. The child was quickly pulled from the water, but appeared dead. Dr Sweetland arrived but did not treat, stating recovery unlikely. Funeral services were held at M F church Tuesday forenoon with interment at Riverside cemetery.
Mrs Margaret Marie McClinton died at two in the morning after meningitis. Funeral held at St John’s church in Alma with large attendance. She was born October 21 1874 and married July 7 1895 to Dr NF McClinton. A son Arthur Reginald survived them. Burial gifts and sympathy from Miss Smith choir KOTM and 10,0O members.
A public meeting will be held in the opera house on Monday evening to gauge sentiment for securing the Lansing St Johns St Louis Electric Railroad. The event, attended by Hon John N Mills Hon H R Partengill Hon Frank L Dodge and local capitalists, emphasizes local farmers invited to show interest to avoid losing the project to other towns along the route.
Jasper Raynard of three miles west of Ashley was killed by a buck sheep while driving sheep to Maple River for washing. He fell as he chased them, the animal struck him near the heart, and he died after fifteen minutes. He leaves a wife and eight children.
