His Farewell Sermon at the Alma Baptist Church
Rev W C Clatworthy preached a farewell sermon in Alma last Sunday evening as he leaves for a new charge in the western state. The church and Presbyterian visitors filled the building with deep interest. Fourteen members were received during the period, nine by baptism and five by letter, and a large crowd saw them off at the train. PROF. JOHN B. DeMOTTE lecture plans announced at 100 dollars, with promotions from local officials. the event to be held at the opera house Saturday evening May 12, under the Senior Class.

Bids for the new Presbyterian church were opened Tuesday night. Names include Golf & Hstrick and Young Alma Sylvester Tire with respective prices. The bid list excludes ing, heating, ventilating, electric wires and fixtures, glass, seating, or the basement which is under contract. The Western Passenger Association rejected Rockland plans for cheap excursions. Rock Island will offer one fare plus $2 round trips from Chicago and east of Missouri River to Denver Colorado Springs Pueblo Salt Lake City and Ogden with sale dates June 20 July 17 and August 1. Missouri River points follow on later dates. From Kansas City to Omaha inclusive sale July 7 5 and four special trips from Colorado common points to Chicago on June 23 July 1 9 and 20 August 4. Round trip return limit to October. Special trains to depart Chicago 5 PM with one night on the road.
