Newberry Dispute Ends in Fatal Rifle Incident

Presbyterian Church to Close for Two Sundays for Improvements

The Presbyterian church will close for two to three weeks to allow extensive improvements including installation of a pipe organ. Regular services will move to the college chapel. Boys Poisoned After Eating Wild Parsnips

Two young boys, Herman Ingle aged about nine and Bernard Wright aged six, were severely poisoned after eating wild parsnips Friday afternoon. They became violently sick within an hour. Drs Lamb and Saydam treated them, with Herman unconscious for hours and both at risk. Herman remained at home while Bernard returned to school the following Monday.

Moore and Collins Buy Cadillac In Detroit Trip

Messrs George Moore and FF ly Collins visited Detroit last Friday and Saturday. Moore purchased a Cadillac automobile, a ten horsepower Tonneas. Friends anticipate its arrival, but heavy rain forced them to halt the journey in Elsie where the car was left in a garage until roads improve for transport to Alma.

Alma Citizens Give Virtue of Generosity to Relief Funds

State Governor Warner thanks Mayor Delavan and Alma citizens for their charitable response. Messages dated April 27 and May 12, 1906 report Alma contributions totaling 330 and 340 dollars to the California and San Francisco relief funds respectively.

County Teachers Institute Opens In Gratiot County

The Gratiot County School Teachers Association held its semi annual meeting in St Louis low Friday and Saturday. City schools closed Friday to allow teachers to attend. Mr Pattengill attended both days, calling the event one of the best in the county. Officers elected include E D Waking Ithaca president DeWitt St Louis vice president Anna Harvey Sumner secretary.
