Michigan’s fiscal standout supports St Lawrence link
The Grand Rapids Herald notes Michigan sent $287,415,040 to the federal treasury last year while receiving only $45,771,850 in federal expenditures. It argues Michigan, with neighbors Ohio and Illinois among big contributors, should back the improved St Lawrence Waterway to connect to the ocean, warning successors not to kill the “golden egg.”
