Babson reports on the eastern central states

Babson outlines his view on the eastern central states economy for 1922 and 1923. New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and other large cities rely on foreign trade, jobbing, and investments. He expects foreign trade to remain weak, but jobbing to hold and possibly grow, while finance and stock markets may boost urban prosperity later in the year. He notes gains in the electrical and railroad sectors if interest rates stay low, with New York and Pennsylvania leading a broader recovery into 1923.
