Under New Management at Alma Sanitarium

The Alma Sanitarium moves to new leadership with Dr George F Butler of Chicago named medical superintendent beginning May 1. Mr C H Ruhl becomes business manager, bringing hotel experience. he succeeds Mr Foley who departs with many friends in Alma and at the sanitarium.

Sanitary Convention Planned in Alma Jones and 5

A citizens group met Prof Delos Mall of Albion to arrange a two day sanitary convention in Alma Jones and 5 under the state board of health. Dr A F Broske named president. ten to fifteen vice presidents drawn from Alma St Louis Ithaca. Rev J Sweetland chosen secretary. The event aims to present facts compare views and discuss practical sickness prevention methods for general public health. Township board also met and appointed Dr JF Sudam health officer and Howard Willard dog warden under new dog license law effective May 1. Willard to issue licenses, collect tax, and has power to destroy unlicensed dogs.

Breckenridge Bank Robbery Aftermath Leaves Man Legless

John W. Kelly, a Chicago cafe expert and insurance adjuster for Fidelity and Casualty, was injured when a nitro glycerine charge exploded as robbers fled Breckenridge bank. The blast shattered his leg, which doctors later amputated below the knee. He was thrown about ten feet by the concussion.

Dodge of this place dies at Wright House

Dodge of this place aged 87 years died Thursday afternoon at one o clock after a winter of feeble health. He was a prominent Niles Mich business man who moved to Alma just over a year ago. He leaves an aged wife and one daughter Mrs J N Ford. Funeral arrangements not learned at press time.

Goebel Wins Settlement From Kilby Mills Over Factory Scaffold Injury

Toma Goebel, injured when a scaffold broke at the Kilby Mill sugar factory in September, obtained a $1000 settlement through his attorney W A Bablke. All medical charges at Brainard's hospital were covered. Goebel has largely recovered. Suit was filed and set for trial in Ithaca next Monday, marking a happy end to a bitter dispute.

Pupils Recitals At School Of Music College Chapel

The first of two pupil recitals will be Wednesday evening May 9 at College chapel. Pupils from piano vocal and violin departments perform and the second recital for advanced grades is May 16. Public invited. Programs available Monday at Sharrar Mulholland and Biving Rhodes. Admission free.

Commander in chief Albert D Shaw issues General Orders No 6 to G A R posts nationwide urging sacred observance of Memorial Day. The orders praise heroic sacrifice, urge youth involvement in grave decorations, and call on citizens to join in solemn ceremonies in Alma as preparations are made.
