Brother of Mrs Marcus Ring Killed at McBain Saw Mill
Marcus Ring of this place received news last Thursday that her brother was fatally injured at a saw mill in McBain after being caught in shifting machinery. He died after the fatal injuries, with funeral held on Saturday following. Prince H Robbins born May 2 1829 in Riverdale Nova Scotia. Married Isabella B Pardy in 1800, eleven children, six surviving. After first wife’s death in January 1895 married Emily Wagner in April 1897, who survives him. Spent over two decades at sea before settling in Worcester May, Alma and Gillmor regions. He helped organize township and was active in public affairs.

Adelphic Society Presents Sixth Annual Program at Alma College
The Adelphic Literary Society at Alma College staged its sixth annual program in the college chapel on Monday night, April 24. Five members performed, opening with a piano solo by Miss Wagner. President Baker gave an oration on the “Feeling of Russian Despotism,” followed by Mr. McBride’s essay “One View of Napoleon.” Vocal solos by Mr Bagley and Mrs Pettyjohn framed further essays by Mr Harker on British rule in India and Mr Willebrands’ “He is Unknown to Fame.” Dudley Tinker closed with a violin solo. The event, praised as the best program yet by the society.

Gratiot County Teachers Meet at St Louis High School

Baseball Association Forms at Wright House Meeting
Several business men gathered at the Wright House last Thursday to organize a local baseball association. F Brown was chosen manager with De. Sweetland as assistant. A committee led by JN Ford, J. O. Death of Miss Mabel Rice of Caro at 22
Miss Mabel Rice, a former Caro college student, died Sunday April 16 at her home in Caro after a months long struggle with consumption. The 22 year old was beloved for her fine appearance and gentle disposition, and Caro public schools closed in the afternoon of her funeral as a sign of tribute.
