Dr Chue McLachlan of Elwell Dead After 16 Months Illness
Noted Elwell physician Dr Chue McLachlan died Wednesday March 17 after a 16 month illness. Born December 16 1845 near St Mary's Ontario he emigrated to Pennsylvania at 21 and later settled in Elwell after studying at Lewiston College of Electric and Rush Medical College. He built a large practice, commuted by horse, and was active in local politics while supporting a growing family. He leaves wife Sarah Peters and two children John A. McLachlan and Mrs Hilsinger, plus two sisters in Ontario.
