American Legion Post Entertained with Smokers and Fights
Monday evening the George Wy Myers Post No. 142 American Legion hosted a smoker and athletic event at Republic cafeteria. Ernest Fenty fought Hole in a wrestling match with Fenty winning a tight effort. Ward of Sigmaw and Jerry Otto of Alma boxed four rounds with Otto gaining the better points. Commander Reese urged a state boxing commission permit for a clean sport, and support was pledged. Hoffman and Weedock staged a lively four round session, The Jade impressed the crowd and may return for an eight or ten round bout. Kid Charles of Bay City vs Billy Carpenter of Saginaw ended with Carpenter holding the edge. A hot dog and coffee lunch followed the main bout as the crowd departed.
