Veteran Alma hardware dealer Glass dies at 63
Prominent Alma resident and former village treasurer Edward Glass died at his Woodworth and West Center home Friday after a long illness. Born 1854, he came to Alma 33 years ago and built a career in hardware, later in Sanderholt Glass stores. A staunch Republican, he served as Alma treasurer for two terms and belonged to the fire department for eight years. He is survived by wife, son Floyd H. Glass, and sister Sue Glass of Ypsilanti. Funeral Sunday at Woodworth Avenue residence, Rev. W. L. Gelston officiating. Burial in Riverside cemetery vault. Out-of-town attendees included Sue Glass, Charles Hogeland, and Grave Case of Battle Creek.
