Second game falls short as Detroit Cowpers rally ends in loss
The Republics and Cowpers of Detroit split weekend baseball, with Saturday’s 11 to 7 win for the Truckmakers and Sunday’s 3 to 2 finish after an eighth inning rally. Olmstead started the Alma game Saturday but had limited control, while Blackhall shined for the Republics as errors marred both sides.

Married at Justice Office Seals Unusual Nuptial
Solomon Miller aged Thyomry wed Harriet Parker aged D8 in a sparsely attended ceremony in the office of Justice of the Peace William H. Rogers. The couple, watched by a small group including J M Miller and Goldie Havenn, faced an open window as the knot was tied. Mr and Mrs Miller plan to reside on the gevon's fort in Seville township.

Five Injured In Auto Accident Near Shepherd
Five Alma residents were injured Saturday evening north of Shepherd when their car left the road and rolled in a ditch. Keith Pratt suffered a broken arm and dislocated shoulder, Arthur Dumas a broken arm, Grunnie Smith severe cuts and bruises, Sarah Miller deep cuts requiring stitches, and Mrs Hazel Cunningham serious internal injuries. Medical aid arrived quickly and all were moved to their homes for treatment.

Renewal of new on a filling station opens at Pie and East Superior
H Stickney and J J Swarthout opened a new filling station at Pie and East Superior streets on Wednesday morning with gas priced lower than city norms. A 12.0 gallon tank was installed last week, connected to a Pere Marquette sidetrack pipeline, and gasoline was piped in Tuesday enabling the opening. They sell Texan gasoline and oils at the low-cost station while awaiting a permanent building.

Will Purify Water Mains In Alma City

Cabaret to Open as DeLuxe Store Enlarges
The DeLuxe store in Anus is being enlarged this week and will host its first cabaret after completion in a few days. A 24 foot square rear addition will provide a fine dining floor and a dance space for couples. Music will come from a player piano and a nickel dance fee will cover all who join.

Murder Charge Against Framks Roberts For Poisoning Wife
Framks Roberts of Mt. Pleasant is jailed in Isabella county on charges of poisoning his wife about a month ago. He reportedly admitted mixing paris green in a cup by her bed, then returned with his son to wait for her death. The wife Kate Roberts’s body was exhumed for an inquest finding Paris green in her stomach. The case has drawn wide attention in Mt. Pleasant and surrounding counties. Mrs. Mary Lucy Losey died at her home of Z Losey, near Oxford, aged nearly 75, with funeral held in Oakand County after relatives took the body May 27. The J.M. Montigel Block on East Superior and Pine is nearing completion and may house the veteran merchant within ten days.

The Union Telephone company will absorb Bell interests in Gratiot Irabella Shiawassee and parts of Montcalm Toni a and Merotta counties, unifying local service under one system. For now both offices operate separately with trunk lines linking them while work to combine networks continues, possibly taking months.
