Miss Mings delivers a speech to the kindergarten department graduates outlining encouragement and bright futures. The ceremony occurs as the class receives diplomas and children perform a short program for attendees.
The Kindergarten Department held graduation in the college chapel with Miss Clara W. Mingins delivering an address on The Power of Purpose. Speakers included Milas Mingins and students Robert Gratz Helen Cook George Sutton, with music by Mins Sharp and Rev. Ellins. Proceedings continued with greetings from trustees and faculty as graduates advanced in a day of formal exercises.
James W. Milliken former Michigan senator and leading Traverse City businessman died of apoplexy aboard a New York Central train near Poughkeepsie on the way to Yale commencement. His death stunned the city as details of his public service and wide local involvement were recounted.
Children’s Day observance held at the Presbyterian church last Sunday evening featured infant class performances by Mrs Howe and Mrs Dean, with recitations and special music. Three children were baptized before the service closed.

Bert Gee of Seville township proposes a novel irrigation system to reclaim arid land. The plan outlines water management, soil treatment, and crop prospects, aiming to boost productivity and settlement viability in the region.
Bert Gee of Elwell devises a novel irrigation method for a 40 acre parcel cut by a county drain. He plans to tile the land and build a small dam in the ditch to regulate water, flood in fall, and drain within 24 hours if needed, offering a temporary damp across the ditch.
Governor Warner Lieut. Gov. Patrick Kelley and staff will visit Alma on Wednesday to discuss state issues and measures of public interest. Crowds are urged to attend with good music provided at North Star 1016 am Ithaca 2 o clock Alma 2 pm and Riverdale 3 pm the same day.

The High School held graduation at the opera house with 800 attending. Prof. Laird of the State Normal School at Ypsilanti spoke in place of the ill William W. Sprague of American Boy, delivering a broad talk on education, service, and personal virtue, while Supt Ellsworth and the Alma board watched as diplomas and certificates were presented.
Alma College Board of Trustees passed a unanimous resolution thanking President Agguat F. Beuske D D for seventeen years of service and praying for his return to health. The note praised his devoted work and noted health strain from close confinement and arduous duties. Miss Nona Glenn, soubrette, appears at the Opera House drawing crowds with Indian costumes and dances, performing this week.
Last Sunday evening at the Methodist church in Alma F L Congin described the Baltimore General Conference as a major ecclesiastical event. Delegates from many nations attended with governors senators and lawyers among the attendees. The meeting noted 717 delegates answered to roll as the twenty fifth quadrennial session marked 100 years since the first.
