Y M C A Camp at Bass Lake Opens Registration

The Y M C A B County camp at Bass Lake in Highland Park offers a fine beach for swimming boating and water baseball. The White Swastika program will run, and boys aged 11 to 20 may register by June 25 with a one dollar fee to county secretary Mr Burdick.

Ringling Bros Circus to Visit Alma on July 29

It was learned yesterday that a contract has been viewed for Ringling Bros Circus appearance in Alma on Thursday July 29. The Ringling show will again visit Alma this year and is expected to draw large crowds, with past performances packing the tent to capacity and about 17000 attending an afternoon show.

Will Ply Aeroplane Exhibition in Alma Next Sunday

Alma residents can attend a free aeroplane show on Sunday June 20 with mid air stunts and prize drop tickets redeemable in local stores. A Holiday Park land sale will also be held offering affordable lots with views of the business district and new bridge. Flight rides are offered at fifteen dollars for fifteen minutes.

New $10 000 Austin ditching machine aids sewer work

A new $10,000 Austin ditching machine is proving effective for sewer and water main construction in Alma. The heavy machinery digs trenches rapidly, reducing reliance on hand labor, with a 350 foot trench on Rosedale avenue completed in about two and a half hours. The machine is expected to lower costs, support accelerating extensions, and aid future city projects while a back filler will finish trenches after pipe lay. The Detroit All Stars series ends with Friday’s game at 6 20 on Republic Hill, drawing a large crowd for Alma.

Edifice Dedication Service Led by Dr Snively

The Christian church at Superior and Court Alma will dedicate its new building this Sunday June 20 with Rev George L Snively of Lewiston in charge. A Bible School session at 9 30 am will open the day followed by candle drill, then morning worship with an overflow service for the young folks. A basket dinner at noon, memorial services in the afternoon, and an evening sermon at 7 00 pm are planned with addresses by Rev Snively and Mr William A Bahlke on The Old Days and the Old Ways. A program of musical numbers and a fine variety of readings accompanies the event.

A special meeting of Alma Post Legion is set for Monday June 21 at 7:45 pm at Legion Headquarters to finalize preparations for a monster carnival starting the week of June 28. Members are urged to attend. the event is described as key to creating improved club rooms.

Republics Split Series With Alma In Chicago Series

The Republic Trucks split a two game series in Chicago against the Pyotte club, with Alma taking the Sunday encounter 8 to 1. Hagerman beat Joe Bons 4 to 1 in Sunday action.
