Heaven smiles on the 1904 graduates as Commencement Day brings fine weather, returning alumni, and friends. Thirty graduates in all from all departments, including twelve from the college department, with high praise for the morning chapel exercises and the scene on campus.
The Christian Associations heard Rev W H Long deliver the annual address Sunday at 3 pm in the college chapel. The speaker, from Elk Rapids, noted that speaking on a Sunday afternoon is an improvement over previous midweek evenings and praised the need to live under Christ, not merely learn His teaching.
Prest A F Brose D D delivered the baccalaureate address to Alma college graduates in the Presbyterian church auditorium. He spoke on persecution of goodness, citing Lincoln and Garfield, and warned against secular aims in church, Sabbath, and Christian education. continued on eighth page.

The aged veterans of the Fighting Seventh Volunteer Infantry met in Alma for their eighteenth annual reunion on Tuesday the 7th. Many attendees arrived with wives, exchanged greetings, and wore badges honoring comrades. A Barnum & Bailey circus show provided entertainment, though an accident injured a rider, Dr. C. B. Clark aided him, and he rested comfortably. Trains carried performers and spectators, with local crowds greeting the arrival.
A grand parade opened at 10 o clock featuring new acts and a large crowd. Riders defy gravity in three feats, loop the loop variations, and daring incline ladder stunts wow spectators under the big top. Clowns Spader Johnson and Slivers drew applause while animals and房 children enjoyed the show.
