Alma plans a patriotic Fourth of July program with sports and entertainment to draw visitors. A business meeting tonight at 8 30 in the public building will appoint committees and arrange funding to ensure proper celebration.
Residents near the Ann Arbor railroad stockyards urge action citing strong odors, stagnant water, and health concerns. The article notes open pens, hogs inside yards, and a nearby sewer outlet that worsens conditions, seeking village officials to relocate the nuisance promptly.
The cornerstone of the 10,000 Ond Fellows temple was laid with Past Grand Master M. R. Salter of Ithaca leading a procession from the K of P hall to Center and State streets. Mary Taft long-time Alma resident died Wednesday morning at her daughter Mrs D F Strable’s home at age 40 after a fall fractured her wrist and injuries. She was mother to Stephen Taft Vandon Taft and Mrs Db P Strable. Funeral held at the residence Thursday with interment at Vestaborg.

The Farmers Club favored primary reform amid mixed views from Grange and party affiliates. July meeting planned at Wm Pitt's home north of Elwell.
