Drilling operations for a city water supply have caused shortages in private wells on higher ground. The large Union school ground well across from the bird park is drying as city wells go deeper. Forecasts on continued dryness remain uncertain until all city wells are completed.

Chapel Dedicated at Eastminster Dedication Sunday

Eastminster chapel in the eastern pit Ale ma was formally dedicated Sunday afternoon. A notable audience heard Prof. Chahe of Alma College offer the dedicatory prayer and Rev. George B. Stewart deliver the dedicatory address. The new chapel, completed some months prior, drew a large turnout and left a strong impression on attendees.

Brigas, a former St Louis Bay News employee, recounts a clash between a merchant ship and a German submarine en route to the country. Speeding Case Highlights West Superior Street Incident

On Sunday H Payton drove speeding near West Superior Street and witnessed by Marshal Rogers. Taylor was arrested Monday, hired Marcus Pollasky for defense, and a jury trial ensued. After deliberation the six jurors found Taylor exceeded the speed limit. he was fined $10 and warned of possible further consequences. Taylor paid the fine and is connected to Republic Motor Track Company.

Alma College to Graduate Twenty-Two in Commencement

Alma College announces twenty two graduates will receive degrees at the commencement exercises. Rev Charles Wishart of Chicago and Rev George Stewart of Auburn Seminary will address the audience along with Harriet Virtum of Northwestern Settlement. George B. Watson a prominent Alma resident died at his Gratiot avenue home after a weeks illness. Born in Ontario April 28 1867 he worked for Alma Grain Lumber and Swift and Company before settling in Alma.
