Preparations Begin on E Superior Street Paving
Preliminary work to pave E Superior Street began last week with men laying water and sewer connections. Paving will start once headway is made. Contractor aims to begin mid month but material delays due to floods and strikes held up water piping. Work to be rushed. Mrs Julia A Holmes of Highland Park Detroit died May 28 after a week illness. Her sons FE A and H J Holmes and spouses attended funeral in New Haven on Decoration Day May 30, with burial at Memphis beside her husband who died May 16 1910.

Brainerd Hospital Notes Show Several Surgeries
Little Eva Huggett returned home after a successful amputation of an arm. John Swartoun of St. Louis underwent amputation of a toe due to tubercular disease. William Campbell, 77, of Lonin, was treated for injuries from a fall on a scaffold. Mrs. John Miter of St. Louis had tumor removal and is recovering rapidly. Mrs. William De Long entered for old injuries and is recovering. Dr Brainerd drained a plural cavity on Mr Ball’s left side and he is doing well. Three staff members operated on a patient in Jerseyville for appendicitis. Mrs H. M. Brainerd cared for the patient. Miss Ida Cortex helped care for a patient of Dr. Foden at Shepard.

The Vaudette reopened last Monday with Askeland and Richmond delivering high class vaudeville. A new motion picture circuit launched. week’s pictures praised as top since opening by Mr Fishbeck. Upgrades include larger air ventilators, redecorated front, and an expert motion picture operator. A new machine will replace the old model soon. Further improvements planned to enhance comfort and attract patrons.
