Ex Governor Chase S Osborn spoke at the Presbyterian church on Civilizing Influences of American Missions. He argued missionaries sparked civilization and commerce, noting English and Siamese history, and praised missionary work in Africa and worldwide. Mrs. William H. Padelford died of apoplexy at 2 PM after an extended illness. Born Mary Ella Richmond in Medina Michigan on March 24 1843 she married William H. Padelford May 5 1867. Miss Maude Hereford, former head of the manual training department at Alma School, died July 24 in Brookfield Missouri after illness en route to Michigan. She had taught in Sydney Montana and earlier at Alma, leaving many friends to mourn her sudden death. burial will be in Batavia.

Barnes Circus Delights Alma With Crowd and Music

Al Barnes Circus drew several thousand to Alma last Friday and delivered two strong performances.
