Ithaca Alderman Hannah Injured In Night Highway Crash

Alderman Hannah of the Fourth ward and his wife survived a Saturday night crash near Fitzgerald farm after his car struck a buggy wheel and veered into a five foot ditch. Hannah suffered a broken shoulder, while his wife aided him until help arrived. Dr. McClinton treated the injuries and the couple returned home the next day.

Vacation trip leaves Saginaw for St Anne pilgrimage

Miss Sarah McNamara of the post office heads two week vacation joining sister Kate in Detroit then with Saginaw excursion to St Anne de Beaupre Quebec for first regional pilgrimage. About 150 French residents from Maginaw Bay City and nearby areas ride Pere Marquette special train with three tourist sleepers a standard sleeper and a baggage car. Fr Proud homme arranged the train and events for the trip with hopes of visiting phlines and services.

Death of Mrs H Woodworth in Alma

Word received from Mrs A J Hall in Charlotte reports the death of Mrs Martha J DeCoe Woodworth at 1240 PM on Tuesday. She spent much of her life in Eaton County and leaves her husband and five children. She was well known in Alma where she visited often over the past twenty years.

A Serious Charge In Alma Photographer Arrested

A. F. Devereaux, a Vestaburg photographer and former Alma resident, was arrested by Montcalm County Sheriff Ward. He waived examination and faces circuit court trial with bail set at 250 dollars. Reports say he circulated a photo of a village woman dressed like Eve, sparking strong local interest.

Narrow Escape At Crystal Heights Embankment Incident

Bert Shong of Middleton Elevator nearly crashed while backing a car on Crystal Heights street. His vehicle slid toward a 20 foot embankment before brakes engaged and a telephone pole helped halt the fall. Passengers and bystanders aided in rescuing the car from the edge.

Automobile At Auction In Nine O Clock Sale

Eb Convis sold the Dolson touring car once owned by W A Leet at auction. Bids rose to 400 dollars before ownership questions caused a bid withdrawal. The sheriff reopened the bidding, raising to 400 dollars for Harry Nelson, who then hauled the car to Neixon Bros garage and later to townman W A Bahlke.

Lake Trip Planned for Miss Fraker to Mackinaw Island

Miss Lois Fraker departs Friday for Cass City and Deckerville in eastern Michigan and aims to reach Alpena by Wednesday August 1. She will be joined by Mr and Mrs Ransom Fraker to take a boat to Mackinaw Island and other northern Michigan points, returning by inland routes through Cheboygan Oden Traverse Bay resorts and home for a pleasant trip.

Gratiot County Sunday Schools Plan Annual Excursion

The Gratiot county Sunday schools announce their annual excursion to Ann Arbor Lakeland and Whitmore Lake on Wednesday August 4. The round trip to Ann Arbor costs 1.90 and adding sixty cents buys a round trip to Detroit via the electric line. Sixty Day Sentence for Dress Theft in Alma

Marie Thompson, 21, was brought from St Louis to Gratiot County jail to serve a sixty day sentence imposed by Justice Newell Smith for stealing a dress. She claimed an exchange with the other girl and intended to return it. Arrested at Alma by Deputy Marshal Robert Smith, she was locked up at St Louis officers’ request, with Alma’s lockup praised by the prisoner.

Ann Arbor Introduces All Steel Passenger Train

The Ann Arbor railroad unveiled an all steel passenger train costing about 100000 with a 20000 dollar observation cafe parlor car. The train features steel interiors, electric lighting, air cooling, vestibule coaches, six wheel trucks, and a 88 seat capacity per coach. Fatal Lightning Strike Hits Bethany Township Farm

During yesterday's storm Hon Francis aged 24 of Bethany township was struck on the north porch of David Smith farm and killed instantly. The bolt tore through the house splitting plaster and loosened woodwork while Mr Smith, six feet away, was unharmed.
