Snake Killing Leads Auto Ride Tale In Alma News

In Alma area, a local event recounts a ten foot long snake encountered on a Gratiot county road near Ithaca. An unnamed group of well known Alma citizens describes driving, a scuffle with the reptile, and salt used on cattle tails, ending with the snake killed and the party continuing home. A Local Optionist notes a Mary Sharp solo at the Baptist church last Sunday.

Robert E Moble, born in Canada July 2 1854, died Sunday July 17 after a 15 month illness. A Riverdale business leader since 1883, his funeral was held Tuesday at his home with Rev L Crain and Rev Whaley officiating. He is buried at Seville cemetery. many from surrounding towns attended. Riverdale stores closed in mourning. Seville, Riverdale, Ontario and Detroit figures were among the attendees.

A D Saunders a popular Ithaca resident and noted Grapiot county dentist shot himself in his Ithaca room Wednesday morning. He left word his health was poor and intended to fetch a doctor if he did not return soon. Will Gowrdrey found him with a bullet wound in the temple. Saunders, about 80, ran a prosperous practice. his parents live in Bay City.
