Supervisor L. M. Sweet acquires Alderman George Bansill's share in Bansil & Swigart and forms Sweet & Swigart starting Sept. first. Sweet, a Gratiot County citizen, will partner with Judge John T. Supervisors approve state equalization totals rise by 410000

The Board of Supervisors adjourned June session with Bradford Owens and Ely named to the State Board of Equalization delegation. A corrected report leaves a county treasury balance of 8586,406.40 on June 1, and the current total equalization stands at 16,020,000, up from 15,620,000 last year, reflecting added township and city assessments.

VONNELLY EGAN Marries John Connolly at St Patrick's Summerton

One of the prettiest weddings of the season united Miss Susie Egan daughter of Mrs P D Egan to Mr John Connolly at St Patrick's church Summerton officiated by Rev John Mulvey. Bride wore white chiffon over silk with a large picture hat. Cousin Miss Mayme McLoughlin of St Louis assisted. The groom's brother Thomas Connelly served as beer man. After ceremony a breakfast for relatives followed. Guests from away included Rev F B Brogger Merrill Miss Mary Brogger Merrill Rev John Mulvery Alma Miss Faith McCarthy Vernon Mrs Jno Cotter Hoaquin Wash James Louis and Robert McLaughlin St Louis. The couple left for an extended trip east and will be at home after July 15.

Moody Erects Large Pine River Barn on Moody Farm

Ira Moody of Pine River plans a 40 by 70 foot barn with an 84 by 46 foot L shape addition on Moody Farm Forest Hill. Contractor Dutt handles carpentry. The roof rises 50 feet with hip heights of 16 and 14 feet and a 2 foot tail rafter. Siding will be Oregon cedar shingles and ship siding with modern equipment, including a gasoline pump for water and a silo for feed. Moody aims for a top quality, up-to-date farm structure.

Sugar beet growers may compete for a $1,000 silver cup donated by Horace O. Havemeyer at the American Land and Irrigation exposition in Madison Square Garden, New York, next November. Calf Escapes and Rouses Hart Residents on July Fourth

Last Monday a calf consigned to Hart reached Alma and was left at the depot for transfer. Its loud bellowing woke residents as it evaded capture, prompting John Wright Hollenbeck and nightwatch Wibber to chase it via the Golf links and West Downie street. The calf was corralled in an Alfalfa field crate and sent back to its owner. A Detroit Staine Glass Co. staff repaired church windows damaged earlier by the ME church.

Alma College Alumni Represent Diverse Professions Worldwide

The Alma College annual highlights alumni spread across twenty four states and six foreign countries. Forty two percent are teachers, twenty percent ministers, seven percent businessmen, four percent missionaries and in adjacent fields many hold professorships, journalism, library work, science and other roles. Students hail from Japan, Scotland and numerous U.S. states, with Michigan counties broadly represented.

Cave Piano Recital by Miss Theo Amsbury Pupils

The Ithaca Methodist church hosted a Friday night recital by ten music pupils of Miss Theo Amsbury. The program featured Le Carillon, Sunset, The Flute Player, May Daye, Rathban, Waltz Pensee, Spring Song, Just a Dream, Dance of the Nymphs, Danse Negre, The Red Slipper, Moszkowski pieces, and an encore by LLM. Perrigo traveled to Detroit after selling four E M F automobiles to Gratiot County residents.
