Seven Alma Girls Kidnapped By Mysterious Driver At Ice Cream Parlor
Seven Alma young ladies were abducted from S. L. Bennett’s ice cream parlor by a handsome man in a touring car. The driver took them for a ride toward Shepard then Clare, before returning them to Alma by dawn. The motive remains unknown and no injuries are reported.

At Elmer Beemis’s east of town a fire overnight consumed the buggy except the front wheels and left a ten foot square hole burned in the barn floor. Memorial services of Knights and Odd Fellows at St John’s
Last Sunday at 2 30 p m the Knights of Pythias and Odd Fellows and sister orders gathered at St John’s Episcopal church for annual memorial services. Rev J Frank Jackson preached on St Luke and St Paul highlighting Christ light. Services included hymns and psalms with processions to the cemetery led by Alma lodges.

Gratiot County Man Awaits Trial for Maple Rapids Larceny
Gratiot County resident Roy Cunningham about 25, arrested in St Johns, charged with larceny in Maple Rapids. He took about $39 from a store till after a customer paid with a $5 bill, $50 bag contents checked, Sheriff notified, Cunningham pled guilty and was bound over to circuit court with $500 bail, in jail awaiting trial.

Pattengill Renn Reunion Brings Old Students Together

Alma business men petition for hitching posts on Superior street
A large group of Alma merchants presented a petition to the City Council urging that at least five hitching posts be installed for each half block in the business section of Superior Street. They warn that removing all posts would harm local business as paving proceeds. The petition notes prior paving laws and anticipates uniform posts to be set before sidewalks widen.

The 1906 Gratiot County Normal reunion met June 6 at Mrs. Vlora Jessup’s farm near Breckenridge. Will of Ammi W Wright Read in Probate Court
Monday afternoon at the probate court in Ithaca the will of the late Ammi W Wright was read. Most of the estate goes into a ten year trust with Mr Wright's daughter Mrs J H Lancashire set to receive the bulk later. The widow Mrs Anna Wright inherits 110000 and the Wright home on State street with six percent interest until the bequest is paid. James H Lancashire's widow gets 15000 annually and Dr Lancashire 5000 with possible rise to 500. Grandchildren receive small amounts at age twenty one. No large charitable gifts were made beyond 25000 to Alma College later negated by a codicil. Trustees named are Willis T Knowlton Charles H Davis and Lester A Sharp. Experts estimate the estate at five to twenty million. state inheritance tax could be about 1 of the value. Inventory and tax figures will take weeks or months to finalize.
