Alma Legion Post To Install Office Next Week

Alma Legion Post No 132 will install an office next week with state post leaders in attendance. Remodeling of the Wright House hotel begins May 1 at an estimated 830,000, adding modern rooms and a vapor heating plant to serve Alma’s growing city and its travelers.

New Campaign Planned March Go to Church Month

The Federation of churches held a large meeting at the First State Bank last evening and adopted a plan for March to unite all cooperating churches in inviting city residents to attend services. A publicity committee will display window cards and banners while a visitation group aims to reach every house on the first Sunday. Each church will follow with programs and special meetings through March leading to Easter Day, with a prayerful revival emphasis for the city. Officers elected include Dr. Frank Jackson as President, Gel H. Wesheere as Vice President, r. Hentry H. Soule as Secretary, and Mr. L. N. Haker as Treasurer.

Shadow Lawn Again On Market In City Subdivision

A new company formed in the city aims to acquire eighty acres known as the Morris farm or Shadow Lawn subdivision. The plan includes adopting the Alma Development plat to create an eighty foot boulevard through the center, with paving likely on Higan Avenue next year. Members include Charles G. Rhodes T A Burt Earl Morris and Charles C Ward with Blake ly Ward offices serving as headquarters.

Civic League Formulates Spring Campaigns and Appoints Chairs

At a Civic League meeting hosted by Mrs. King the board outlined early spring campaigns across departments. Appointed chairs include Mrs. Floyd Glass for Library, Mrs. W Vieit for Town Improvement, Dr. T. J. Good Government, Mrs. H. M. Page for Education, Miss Lemmon for Child Welfare, and Mrs. D. L. Johnson for Community Council among others. The next meeting is planned at Mrs. Ed. Hannah’s home on Friday afternoon February 6 at 4 o'clock.

Republic team joins new Industrial Baseball League in Chicago

The Republics of Alma Michigan will compete in a newly formed Industrial Baseball League featuring top factory teams from five states. Eight teams attended the Chicago meeting, with temporary officers named and a February 12 follow up set there.

Fire James Lodge No 95 and Royal Temple No 16 held a joint installation of officers on Thursday January 22 at the lodge hall. The Record reports Alma public schools are over crowded with 1735 pupils enrolled yesterday. The high school seats 925 and some students sit in the balcony while other buildings house 445 at Lincoln, 483 at Washington, 466 at Republic, and 76 at Millcrest temporary.
